Photo Journalism Image of the Year 2016-2017. St. Louis Camera Club

Rope Bridge. In Cornwall, we went to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. We arrived early before the crowds and could capture the Burmese rope bridge before a line of other tourists started walking across. Under Clark Bridge. 5.22.2016. I love to photograph this bridge and visit often, but on this morning the sun shown perfectly on the concrete foundation - not the most attractive part of the bridge. Gasconade River Sunrise. 11.5.2016. On an early morning drive to Ha Ha Tonka State Park (Missouri), we took a random exit off the interstate to photograph the sunrise. Sliver of Arch. 1.20.2017. There are many views of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. I caught just a sliver of the Arch between the many layered texture of the city which includes the abandoned, vintage buildings next to modern skyscrapers. Sony A7II 187mm 1/250@f6.3 ISO 400.

Sunset on the City. 8.20.2016. This photo was taken at sunset from the roof of the St. Louis City Museum - a place of whimsical architecture. Sunset was uncertain, but the sun did sneak under the clouds. A couple climbed into this cage-like structure to watch the last rays.

Down by the Riverside. 4.29.2016. Technically, at this point I've hiked outside of the park surrounding the Chain of Rocks Bridge along the Mississippi River shoreline. Walking at the Watershed 11.30.2015. This photo was taken specifically for a photo challenge "From Afar: People". It made the finals. The weather was foggy and rainy, but I went out anyway grabbing the most colorful umbrella that I owned.
